Fasting seems to be the the new hip thing, even though it has been practiced for thousands of years. So what’s new about it?

Prof. Dr. Valter Longo, PhD at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles has spend 25+ years in his research laboratory to illuminate the underlying genes influencing longevity and health.

He found that fasting can activate both stem cell production and autophagy, leading to a decrease in diabetes, metabolic syndrome, auto-immune and cancer cells and an increase in longevity and resilience.

Dr. Longo also discovered that the body has a fasting threshold which allows us to consume small amounts of foods while fasting. It’s called the fasting mimicking diet (FMD) and makes fasting psychologically so much easier.

True medical fasting leads to good results within 5 days and great results within 3 x 5 days over 3 months.

Time-restricted feeding, which includes specific times of the day reserved for eating, can be very helpful for weight loss, detoxification and liver health but will not lead to an activation of the self-healing programs to the degree that Medical, Water-fasting or the FMD can.
